What daily life in Keystone Heights feels like

Keystone Heights is in the southwest corner of Clay County, surrounded by sandhill lakes like Lake Brooklyn and Lake Geneva. It has a quiet, close knit feel that's very different from the busier northern part of the county.

Just north of town on State Road 21 is Mike Roess Gold Head Branch State Park, one of Florida's oldest state parks, built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps. It has longleaf pine sandhills, a ravine with seepage springs, hiking trails, campgrounds, and lakefront cabins.

A quick heads up I give every buyer: lake levels around Keystone Heights go up and down a lot with rainfall and groundwater. Lakes Brooklyn and Geneva are currently below their state set minimum levels and are part of a recovery plan. If lake access is a big reason you're buying, let's look at the water history for that specific lake.

FAQ

Keystone Heights questions I get a lot

Is Keystone Heights a good fit if I work at NAS Jax?

It's about an hour each way in light traffic, so it's a long daily drive. If NAS Jax is your duty station, I'd usually point you toward Orange Park, Fleming Island, or Oakleaf. If Camp Blanding is your workplace, Keystone Heights is a closer option.

Are the lakes always full?

No. Water levels in this area vary a lot over the years. I'll help you research the lake history for any lakefront home.

Do homes have city water or well water?

It depends on the property. We'll confirm for each home and order a well inspection and water test when needed.

What's there to do?

Fishing, paddling, hiking, camping at Gold Head Branch, and small town community events. It's a quiet place, and that's the point.
